Lisa Thomson is an artist who received a BFA from Louisiana Tech in 2018. Prior to her desirer of becoming an artist, she attended Texas A&M University and then Texas Tech University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Education in 1987.

From 1987 until 2011, Lisa followed her husband, who served 26 years in the U.S. Air Force, around the United States. The Air Force took Lisa and her family to Rapid City, South Dakota; Colorado Springs, Colorado; Abilene, Texas; and Bossier City, Louisiana.

Throughout her multiple moves, Lisa sought out patterns to make sense of her new home and new environment. These patterns were key to making connections and mapping out her new environments. Lisa's love of patterns is used in her latest work titled "Patterns of the Past". The series explores the use of wallpaper patterns, teacup patterns, and maps as historical place markers that aid in drawing attention to major historical events.
